AIR PLANKS

Air Planks are two or more air cells combined to create rectangular load-bearing pallets fitted with air casters on their underside. The air casters mounted on AirBarge air planks are a patented design in which the seal is separately inflated from the lifting air cushion.
Therefore, if a load is resting on skids of the proper height, the seals of the air casters are left deflated while the air planks are slid into the clear space between the skids.
Once the air planks are in position, the seals are inflated. This produces a jacking action which raises the load up off the skids or blocks; transferring the weight of the load to the air casters' lifting cushions. The load can then be floated away on the frictionless air cushions.

When the load arrives at its new location, the process is reversed and the load is landed back on to skids or blocks. The air planks can then be extracted for use elsewhere. Controls for each air plank are mounted at its end for easy access. Normally only one interconnecting air hose is required between the air planks. Flotation air for all air planks is provided by a single trailing hose which is connected to a shop air supply and may be connected to any air plank as required.
